Injury Blow: Liverpool 29-year-old star ruled out for one month

Tuesday, 11 September 2018

Liverpool could be without Croatia international defender Dejan Lovren for a while longer yet, as they insist that the player will not be rushed back from his ongoing struggles with fitness, according to the Liverpool Echo.

It’s reported that Croatian star is currently sidelined due to a stomach problem, meaning that he hasn’t featured for the Reds in the new Premier League game this campaign.

The Merseyside Reds head-coach Jurgen Klopp has used Joe Gomez in the central defensive role alongside with club’s record signing Virgil van Dijk. This decision has since paid off, with the Reds sat at the top of the league having conceded just once in four Premier League games.

The 29-year-old defender has featured throughout Croatia’s exceptional World Cup season, however, is believed to have played through pain as his country reached the final of the competition, with the defender is still out and won’t be able to come back for another month.

The former Southampton centre-bck is reported by the Echo to be running and doing work with the ball at the Reds training ground Melwood as he continues to accelerate to return to full fitness.

However, with the Reds in no rush to integrate Croatian centre-back into the first-team picture, perhaps due to the impressive form of England international star Joe Gomez.
