Adobe Photoshop CS3 is a powerful graphic editing program that can be used to create or prepare images to print or use in web pages, as well as restore or give life and dimension to images. This program is used by professionals or people who enjoy it and is compatible with PC and Mac computers.
Familiarize yourself with the basics

1. Familiarize yourself with the Photoshop work environment. Photoshop includes a variety of tools to modify the images. Many of them can be easily found thanks to the good design of its interface. [2]
2. It includes the menu bar. The menu bar is at the top of the work area and organizes commands by category. This bar is common in many programs, including Microsoft Word. Each category of the menu bar has an additional pull-down menu with several commands. For example, the category “File” includes many commands associated with files such as “Open”, “Save”, etc. [3]
3. Learn the tool palette. It is located to the left of the work area and contains tools to add text or create and edit images and other graphic elements. Pass the pointer over each tool to see a brief description. They are divided into seven categories: “Selection”, “Cut and trim”, “Measure”, “Retouch”, “Paint”, “Draw and write” and “Navigation”. [4]
4. Understand that tools have several options. The control panel (also called “Options Bar”) shows the options that are available for the tool you are working with. These options can include different effects that the tool has when using it. [5]
Many times when selecting a tool you will have the possibility to choose between different subtypes. These will be displayed in a pop-up window within the original tool you have selected.
5. It includes the window of the document. This is the main part of the screen where the file with which you are working is displayed. When you create a new file you will be asked what dimensions and background color you want to work with. [6]
6. Learn the panels. These serve to follow the changes you have made in the document and make changes. The panels will show the data with figures and you can modify them to change their information. This includes any type of data you can imagine for an image, such as color, tone, saturation, etc.
Some panels are included by default in the “Panels” sections, but they can be added by selecting “Panels” in the “Window” menu.
Start
1. Understand that Photoshop works with layers. It is possible to add layers to the image to create modifications or modify the current layer. Layers can contain everything from filters to new objects that you can place in the image.
Some completed projects will have hundreds of layers, each of them being a small proportion of the total image.
If you are going to make only some basic changes, it is possible to make them by modifying the image as a single layer.
It is possible to add “Masks” to the layers to determine the transparency of the layer. A completely opaque mask implies that it will not be seen at all, while a transparent one will make it look completely.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 offers several file formats. To print the best one is .tif and to use on the web the .jpg.
5. Save the file for the web. It is a great tool if you are going to create images for the Internet, both on your personal web page and Facebook. The option “Save for web and devices” allows you to compress the image so that it occupies less space on the hard disk. This function can also be used to create interesting projects by modifying the colors that will be used and which ones will be “allowed”.
Part 3
Move and remove sections of the image
1. Use the select tool. Before moving an object you must first select it. Do it using the first of the four tools in the panel starting at the top. The selection tool has an image similar to a hand. [9]
The rectangular icon includes tools to select larger but less precise areas of the image. Use this tool by clicking and dragging the pointer over the desired area. The tool can also select portions of the image in a square, round, row or column form.
The loop icon is useful for selecting parts of the image whose borders are well defined. These are those in which there is a marked difference of light, color or tone.
The brush icon is the quick selection tool. It is without a doubt the most useful tool in Photoshop. It allows you to make relatively precise outlines of well-defined objects. “Paint” inside an object so you can select it using this tool.
2. Move the image. Do this using the tool to move or copy the selection using CTRL + C or COMMAND + C. It is possible to move the image using the tool with the icon of a cursor. If you are going to copy it, you can move the image by pasting it into a different section of the image.
Once you have moved the image, there will be a blank space in it. This is because the pixels move from one area to another, so in the original space there is none left.
3. Fill in the blank A common way to fill in the space is to try to simulate what was behind the selected area in the original image. For example, if you have selected a person in front of a wall, it is possible to continue the design of the wall in the blank space.
One way to do this is by using the “Clone” tool. You will find it with the icon of a rubber stamp and will copy and paste a section of the image anywhere you click.
Parte4
Modificar el color y pintar la imagen

Modify the color of the image. It is possible to do it by adjusting the layers, curves, tone, saturation or combination of all. You can access them in the “Settings” submenu in the “Image” menu. [10]
The curves will adjust the light by changing the contrast and saturation.
The tone is the color or shadow of the image. Adjusting this value will change the entire color of the image.
Saturation can also be understood as brightness. For example, the difference between a brick red and a dark red color can be found in the saturation of the red color. [11]
2. Paint the image. Photoshop is also a great canvas to paint. Icons below that similar to a drop of water are used to paint. [12]
The brush allows you to create a wide variety of paintings and textures to add to the image. It is also possible to create your own textures using it. Use it by holding down the left mouse button and moving the cursor to the places where you want to paint.
The icon of the brush with the drop of water next to it will mix the colors. This is useful in case you want to mix two different areas of an image with each other. [13]
3. Modify the color using layers. One way to isolate a modification is to create an adjustment layer. This will be a layer that will only modify one or all of the layers. There are many easy-to-use settings that you’ll find in the “Image” submenu.
Part5
Use keyboard shortcuts
1. Understand the keyboard shortcuts. Shortcuts are integrated functions that will allow you to make work faster and do things more easily. Virtually every action of the menu has a shortcut. You can find most of these shortcuts next to the names of the actions on the menu. [14]
2. Use the move shortcut. The move tool is an important function that you will use often. To speed up the process and activate the tool press “V”.
3. Modify the image If you press the CTRL + T or COMMAND + T keys, you will select an image and you can easily adjust its size and location.
To maintain the original dimensions of the image, press the SHIFT key according to the size settings. This will prevent the image from “breaking”.
4. Select the loop To quickly select a part of the image, press “L”. This will turn the pointer into the loop that will allow you to select the object immediately. [15]
5. Know the shortcut to copy color. This is an extremely useful tool. You can use it by pressing the “i” key. Use it to copy a color you want to use in the future. [16]
Tips
Adobe Photoshop CS3 contains many features to retouch and transform images, including tools to add or remove objects, focus or blur images, add text or correct imperfections.
The color modes can be RGB (from English “Red”, “Green” and “Blue”) or CMYK (“Cyan”, “Magenta”, “Yellow” and “Black”). These models determine how colors will be displayed in printed or electronic images.
Resolution is the number of pixels per inch of an image. The higher it is, the better the quality of the resulting printed image will be. If you are going to use the image for a web page or digital format, it is possible to use a lower resolution. An appropriate resolution for web pages is 72 ppi, while for printed images it is 300 ppi.
